After the OnePlus X turned out to be a flop, OnePlus is working on a new mid-range smartphone, and it hopes that the phone succeeds this time. It could be called the OnePlus Z, and it is scheduled to be launched in July. Specifications and tentative pricing of the OnePlus Z were leaked via a survey put out by one of OnePlus’ partners.
OnePlus makes special edition variants of its smartphones every year. There have been Marvel’s Avengers Edition phones, McLaren Edition phones, and even Star Wars Edition phones from OnePlus. However, it has now been revealed that OnePlus will no longer make McLaren Edition smartphones.

However, it appears that the company might have a cheaper phone in the works for emerging markets like India. The company’s founder has hinted towards a new, affordable phone in an interview.
OnePlus is known for offering software updates to its smartphones for a longer period of time when compared to most other smartphone brands in the industry. Staying true to its commitment, the brand is now rolling out Android 10 OS update to the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T smartphones, which are now more than three years old.
OnePlus makes some killer accessories, starting from quality cases to extremely well-sounding Bluetooth earphones. Everyone was expecting that the company would launch true wireless earphones with the OnePlus 8, but it didn’t. Instead, it launched run-of-the-mill Bluetooth earphones with a low price tag. However, OnePlus’ first true wireless earphones are coming soon.
It’s been a few years since OnePlus really annoyed me (given their ‘Never Settle’ slogan) when they lampooned Apple’s dropping of my beloved 3.5mm audio jack and then their parent company, effectively OPPO at the time, handed them a design to rebadge that… didn’t include the jack. And so they ‘settled’, with some embarrassment. But we’ve forgiven them now and I approached this, the OnePlus 8 Pro, with fresh eyes and enthusiasm, to judge it on its own merits. And was very glad I did – it may not have Apple or Samsung’s brand recognition, but it undercuts the flagships from these brands while often out-performing them. Earlier this month OnePlus pulled the wraps from the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. According to rumor mills the company was expected to launch a mid-range device, however, that didn’t happen. Fresh rounds of rumor say that the OnePlus Z will be released in summer this year.
