Leak: The LG G2, is the Optimus brand dead?

There was a rumor flying around the internets a little over a week ago that said LG was considering ditching the “Optimus” brand for their high end smartphones due to it never really becoming mainstream and people’s disappointment with LG’s previous history of devices.

Last night, while I was asleep, the anonymous Twitter user @evleaks published series of photos of a device called the “LG G2” (scroll down). Note the complete and utter lack of the “O” word.

Korean wireless operator SK Telecom plans to be the first out of the gate with an LTE-Advanced network. According to ETNews, it’ll go live either in August or September. Now what good is a high speed network without phones that can use it, right? That’s where the interesting part of the story comes in. ETNews says both Samsung and LG will have devices out on the market in Q3 that use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800. Said chip supports LTE-Advanced.
