Huawei is going through a very tough phase due to trade sanctions from the US, and its hopes of becoming the world’s biggest smartphone brand have been dashed. However, the company is still trying all it can. It launched a new version of the P30 Pro today, and it is called Huawei P30 Pro New Edition. It has access to Google services.
Huawei might have been the subject of a lot of negative press thanks to the U.S. ban but its smartphone business has been flourishing. The company has announced that it has managed to ship 10 million units of the P30 series in just 85 days since its launch.
The Huawei P30 series is all about its impressive camera. In particular, the Huawei P30 Pro packs an impressive 40MP SuperSpectrum camera sensor which can take some outstanding photos in l0w-light scenarios. Sadly, the camera app on the Huawei P30 leaves a lot to be desired. There are a lot of camera-related tips and tricks on the Huawei P30 that you can follow to improve the overall quality of photos or just make the overall experience better.
Despite their flagship status, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro come with an FHD+ resolution display. While the panels are good, they are nowhere near as good as the OLED panels used by Samsung on its Galaxy S10 series. While there’s not much one can do about this, as a Huawei P30/Pro owner, you can at least increase/decrease the display density to display more (or less) content.
Apart from excellent imaging capabilities, the Huawei P30/Pro series also has excellent video recording capabilities. Like other flagship smartphones, it can record 4K videos as well. But that’s not it, the phones can also record videos in slow-motion.
The Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro are impressive smartphones that have been ruined by a certain extent with EMUI. While Huawei’s skin is packed with features and customization, it is not without its own issues. This includes Huawei’s infuriating HiSearch which tries to imitate Spotlight on the iPhone and fails miserably while at it.
Huawei is in the news for either all the wrong reasons — stealing tech secrets of U.S. companies, helping create backdoors in its products to aid the Chinese government spying activities — or for its impressive smartphones. After the Mate 20 Pro from last year, Huawei is back with an equally impressive Huawei P30 Pro which takes on Samsung’s equally excellent Galaxy S10 series.
Huawei has managed to outdone Samsung in terms of the hardware and camera department with the P30 Pro but does that make it a better phone than the Galaxy S10. Find out in our review.
EMUI on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro is filled with features. Among other things, the phones also offer two different ways of taking screenshots. If you just got the Huawei P30 Lite, P30, or the P30 Pro and are wondering how to take a screenshot, follow this guide.
In all its wiseness, Google ended up removing certain APIs from Android 9.0 Pie that led to all third-party call recording apps from working. This means that if your device does not come with native call recording option, there’s no way you will be able to record calls on it. Thankfully, Huawei was smart enough to include call recording natively on the Huawei P30 series.
If you ended up getting a Huawei P30 or P30 Pro tempted by their impressive camera setup, you must now be experiencing the good and bad of EMUI as well. While it offers plenty of customization options, it has numerous issues as well including the fact you won’t be receiving notifications from your installed apps.
