Google has unveiled Google TV at the event. Google TV is an application that runs on the new Chromecast. As rumored earlier, Google’s latest Chromecast comes with a remote. Most importantly the company claims to have taken content discovery to the next level with Google TV on Chromecast.
We already know that Google is planning to unveil new Chromecast alongside Pixel 5 at the upcoming event. Now a new leak shows how Chromecast remote would look like. And yes the new Chromecast seems to come with a remote. The images show off the new Chromecast and the remote in its full glory.
Google is rumored to launch a successor to the Chromecast Ultra, codenamed Sabrina, this summer. This allegedly upcoming media streaming device from Google is said to feature the Android TV OS and come with remote control. Moreover, remote control from Google was certified on FCC recently, which is said to belong to the Sabrina. Today, a new leak of Google’s upcoming media streaming device has surfaced online, courtesy of XDA Developers, revealing render images of the device and its remote, and UI screenshots.
Alongside the new Pixel handsets and Google Wifi, Google also announced the Chromecast Ultra. The latest version of Chromecast from Google supports streaming and casting in 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision.
Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos has clarified that the confusion that Amazon felt users would have if it continued selling Apple TV and Chromecast is more along the lines of those companies not having ‘acceptable business terms’ that Amazon can work with. In other words, the money coming in to Amazon is not up to their liking, and thus the company stopped selling the two devices on its online web store.
In the recent few days, Google has set precedence for the direction in which it plans to move it’s user experience for televisions. Google’s Chromecast technology has come a long way since its release in 2013. While the tech was initially meant for casting a limited set of content from your Android device to your TV, it now does more than that. Plus, the whole thing has little to do with Chrome now, with the whole technology being based on Google Cast.
Just in time for the holidays, Google is giving existing and prospective Chromecast users some new options for gaming on their TV using their smartphone. Both new and existing games now support streaming via Google’s $35 dongle.
Earlier on September 29, Google officially debuted the new Chromecast 2, which has plenty of improvements under the hood for the same $35 price tag.
