Facebook acquires WhatsApp in $16 billion deal

Facebook announced on Wednesday that it is buying WhatsApp and its messaging service for $16 billion. The social network will pay a total of $19 billion including $4 billion in cash, $12 billion in Facebook stock shares and $3 billion in restricted stock units, which will be given to WhatsApp’s founders and its 50 employees.

Motorola’s Advanced Technology and Projects group moving to Google’s Android division


Lenovo may be purchasing Motorola’s brand and its handset division, but it is not acquiring all of the US handset manufacturer. Google is keeping most of Motorola’s patents and is maintaining control over the company’s Advanced Technology and Projects division, which will be absorbed into Google’s Android team.

Motorola now offering teak, ebony and walnut backs for the Moto X


As promised, Motorola started offering the Moto X with a variety of custom wood backs. The handset maker recently made the bamboo option available and now it has added teak, ebony and walnut to the lineup. The four wood options can be added to a Moto X phone using the Moto Maker customizer tool.
