Huawei P30 Pro: How to Shoot RAW/DNG Photos

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are impressive camera phones. With a 40MP primary shooter, an ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 3x/5x optical zoom lens. In the right hands, the Huawei P30 can capture some stunning photos. And if you are a photographer using the P30, chances are you will want to capture photos in RAW as well.

Thankfully, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro natively support shooting photos in RAW format. The option, however, is buried deep in the camera app which means many people might not come across it. If you are in the same boat and looking to shoot photos in RAW/DNG format on the Huawei P30 or P30 Pro, simply follow the steps below.

How to Shoot RAW Photos on Huawei P30/Pro

Step 1: Launch the Camera app on the Huawei P30 or P30 Pro. Switch to Pro mode.

Step 2: Tap the Settings button located on the top-right corner. Inside the Resolution sub-menu, you will see a RAW format toggle.

Enable it and proceed to shoot photos on your Huawei P30 or P30 Pro. They will now be saved in RAW/DNG format alongside the regular JPEG versions.

You can shoot photos in RAW format on the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro from the ultra-wide angle, 40MP primary shooter, and the 5x optical zoom sensor.

Do note that RAW photos will take a lot of space so only shoot photos in RAW/DNG format when required. RAW photos from the primary 40MP shooter on the Huawei P30 Pro weigh in around 75MB, while the ones from the ultra-wide angle and the 5x optical zoom sensor are around 20-25MB in size.

You can directly edit RAW/DNG photos on your Huawei P30 or P30 Pro using Snapseed or Photoshop Lightroom. Both apps are incredibly powerful and their touch-based UI will actually make it easier to edit RAW photos on the move.
