Nokia today unveiled the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus in India. The handsets were previously launched in China as the Nokia X6 and X5.
The handsets have launched in the highly competitive Rs 15,000, with the Nokia 6.1 Plus taking on the mighty Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Nokia 6.1 Plus
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is a definite looker with a glass design at the front and rear. The front of the handset houses a 5.8-inch FHD+ 19:9 aspect ratio notched display. Internally, the handset is powered by a Snapdragon 636 chip running at 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, and 64GB of storage space. Other specs of the handset include a 3060mAh battery with fast charging, USB-C connectivity, microSD card slot, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi n, dual-SIM connectivity, VoLTE support, and more.
At the rear, the Nokia 6.1 Plus houses a dual-camera setup. The primary 16MP f/2.0 shooter features 1.0um large pixels and is aided by a LED flash. This is paired with a 5MP sensor used for capturing depth information. At the front, there’s a 16MP selfie shooter.
Like other Nokia offerings, the 6.1 Plus is also an Android One handset meaning it runs a stock build of Android Oreo. The handset runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the August security patch, and it is expected to get the Android 9 Pie update before the end of this year.
The handset will go on sale in India from August 30 through Nokia India’s website and Flipkart. It will be available for Rs 15,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB version.
Nokia 5.1 Plus

The 8mm thick handset is powered by MediaTek’s P60 chipset. At the rear, the dual-camera setup packs a 13MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. An 8MP selfie shooter is located at the front. The handset packs 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage space. Like its bigger sibling, the Nokia 5.1 Plus packs a 3060mAh battery.
Nokia did not disclose the price of the handset. It is expected to go on sale in India in September.
