The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are among the most anticipated handsets to be released later this month. Thus, its no surprise that leaks surrounding the handsets are making their way to the Internet every other day. Today’s leak, however, takes the cake by virtually revealing everything about them.
The leak comes courtesy of Russian blogger Eldar from Mobile-Review who has published his first impressions of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S handsets for 2016. His article confirms the final specifications of the handsets and also provide some insight into them. First, below are the full specs of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge:
- 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display
- IP68 certified water and dust protection
- Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 powered variants
- 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
- 32/64GB internal storage, microSD card slot
- 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera
- 3,000mAh and 3,600mAh non-removable batteries
- Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
Eldar notes that the display on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are beautiful and gorgeous. The Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 were also praised for being accurate and beautiful, so this should not really come as a surprise. While the design of both phones remain similar to their predecessor, they now feature curved 2.5D glass to aid ergonomics and usability.
Additionally, Eldar notes that the Galaxy S7 is slightly larger than its predecessor due the the inclusion of a larger battery and IP68 water and dust resistant certification.
The Russian blogger claims that Samsung will be launching the Exynos 8890 powered variant of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in most markets, with only certain regions like the United States receiving the Snapdragon 820 powered variant. As for performance, he says that the Exynos 8890 variant performs better in synthetic benchmarks, though the devices were not running final software so things can change when the devices hit the retail market.
As for the 12MP rear camera, Eldar says that it focuses almost instantly, and the combination of Samsung’s BRITCELL technology and an f/1.7 aperture leads to a notable improvement in the low-light camera performance of the device.
