In an emailed statement, OnePlus has revealed to TechRadar that the company will stop selling the 16GB variant of the OnePlus 2 in North America and Europe. The company says that there is a much higher interest among consumers in these regions in the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 2, so it makes little sense for the company to sell the 16GB variant of the handset there.
However, in countries like India, OnePlus will continue selling the 16GB variant of the OnePlus 2 due to consumer interest and demand.
“According to feedback we have seen much greater interest in the 64GB version of the OnePlus 2 in North America and Europe, so we have removed the 16GB version from those store pages as of this week. We will continue to offer the 16GB version in limited markets such as India, where customers are more interested in an option for different amounts of storage.”
Beside the lower amount of RAM, the 16gig variant of the OnePlus 2 also comes with only 3GB RAM. The price difference between the two variants of the handset is only around $50, so until and unless you are really very short of cash, it is recommended that you go in for the 64GB variant, especially since the OnePlus 2 lacks a microSD card slot.[Via TechRadar]
