Moto X Pure Edition Marshmallow update release notes posted by Motorola

Moto X Pure Edition engaget review

Motorola today posted the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update release notes for the Moto X Pure Edition. If history is anything to go by, this likely means that the OTA update is around the corner and should be released either towards the end of this week or early next week.

Beside detailing the various features introduced by Google in Marshmallow like App Standby, App Permissions and Doze, Motorola has also detailed some of its own changes in the release notes. Firstly, the company notes that it has retired Ambient Display in favor of Moto Display on supported devices, which include the Moto X Pure.

The company also notes that thanks to some new features introduced by Google in Marshmallow, it has been able to integrate Moto Assist in new places. However, it does note that voice commands like “keep quiet” and “play music” are now no longer supported by the app.

Additionally, as previously announced, Motorola is retiring its Motorola Connect Google Chrome extension and Motorola Migrate app. Instead, it recommends customers looking for similar functionality third-party alternatives like Pushbullet, MightyText, Android Device Manager, and Copy My Data.

Motorola has already rolled out the Marshmallow update for the Moto X Style — the international variant of the Moto X Pure — in India in November. The rollout of the update went pretty smoothly, with most Moto X Style owners in India reporting a massive improvement in idle battery life.
