As many expected, ZTE has officially launched the Axon Phone, a stark departure from the company’s previous focus on entry-level handsets.
The Axon Phone was recently confirmed via PCMag, and ZTE’s latest device is certainly of the high-end mix. That includes stand-out features, including a 5.5-inch 2560×1440 display, with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back, there’s a 13MP camera, which ZTE features a f/1.8 lens, and a second depth-sensing lens that will allow users to refocus photos after the shot has been taken.
Inside the Axon Phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, clocked at 2GHz. It’s on offer with 32GB of built-in storage and 4GB of RAM. The battery is measured in at 3000mAh. It boasts LTE-connectivity, which should work for both AT&T and T-Mobile. It’s running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, and PCMag says the proprietary skin equipped on the handset is “light.”
ZTE is moving forward with the Axon brand as its name in the high-end market, so it’s likely we’ll be seeing the brand pop up from here on out in other impressive handsets like this initial endeavor.
ZTE recently confirmed that the Axon Phone will launch on July 27, and it will cost $449.98 unlocked, and off-contract.
