Sales of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are meeting Samsung’s ‘internal target’

Despite meeting with overwhelmingly positive reviews, many reports claimed that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are not selling as well as Samsung had hoped for.

Samsung Electronics President J.K. Shin had denied these reports earlier, and now a high-level executive from the company has once again shot down these rumors. The executive has told the Korea Times that the sales of Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are meeting the company’s internal target and it will be higher than its predecessor — the Galaxy S5.

“Sales of the S6 and S6 Edge are meeting our internal target. S6 sales will clearly be higher than those of the S5. Samsung will aggressively promote sales in our target markets,” the executive said in a telephone interview, asking not to be identified.

Kim Hyun-yong, an analyst from eBest Investment, estimates that Samsung sold 6.1 million units of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in April alone. This means that Samsung sold an average of 305,000 units of its latest flagship throughout April since its launch on April 10.

A previous report had claimed that Samsung has already sold 10 million units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge within 30 days from its launch.
