Now that Apple has debuted the iPhone X with Face ID, all major smartphones launching next year will also feature some kind of facial recognition. Samsung already includes face recognition and iris scanning on the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, but the speed and security of the scanners leave a lot to be desired.

With the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 launch behind it, Samsung is presumably hard at work on the Galaxy S9 — its flagship handset for 2018. A leak surrounding the handset details that Samsung will possibly be including a new wireless AKG headset with the device.
After failing to include an in-display fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung was widely expected to make use of the scanner on the Galaxy S9. However, local news reports from Korea suggest that might not be the case as the company is still struggling with some issues with the tech.
Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 8 tomorrow, but rumors about the company’s 2019 flagship handset — the Galaxy S9 — have already started making their way to the internet. The rumor points to the Galaxy S9 coming with a modular design.
Earlier this year, Samsung managed to reserve the first batch of Snapdragon 835 shipments from Qualcomm for the Galaxy S8. Due to this, other OEMs were forced to delay the launch of their flagship handsets or launch it with the older Snapdragon 821 chipset.
