There’s a new experimental app from Google which aims to bring one of Allo’s best feature to all messaging apps out there. Dubbed Reply and made by Google’s Area 120 experimental division, the app brings Allo’s Smart Reply feature to other third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Skype, Slack, Hangouts, and more.
Reply by Google can be used to automatically send replies to messages that you receive in any of the messaging apps it currently supports while you are running, biking, sleeping, in a vehicle/train, and more. Additionally, you can set up scenarios where Reply can send pre-defined text messages like when you are on a vacation, acknowledging an urgent message, and more.
As of now, Reply by Google seems to work with the following apps:
- Facebook Messenger
- Android Messages
- Twitter DMs
Reply will also show potential responses to messages you receive in the notification shade. Depending on the message you have received, the app can show you up to three different responses. While Android Police readers do indicate that the app works with other languages, it is likely going to be most effective in suggesting responses to messages that you receive in English.
You will have to provide Reply with notification access so that it works properly. This might not go down well with all the privacy freaks out there but then there’s no other way for the app to work properly.
Reply is still in experimental and early stages of development. It is also not available for download from the Play Store and is in closed beta testing. However, since its APK has leaked, you can sideload the app manually on your device and enjoy it right away.
