The OnePlus 5T looks beautiful in its new limited-edition Sandstone White finish. But you should not buy it.
The Sandstone White OnePlus 5T looks striking, with the red Alert Slider adding to the overall effect. The combination of a black front and a white rear gives the device a ‘Panda’ look, something that we first saw with the Pixel 2 XL in Black and White color. Its a striking look for sure and one that is bound to make people ask which phone is this.
But as the popular saying goes, beauty comes at a price. The Sandstone White finish gets dirty really, really fast. If you are someone who prefers to carry their phone naked, the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T is definitely not for you. Apart from picking up the hue of your jeans, the rear will also pick up dirt from the various surface that you keep your phone on. I have been using the Star Wars edition OnePlus 5T, which has the same Sandstone finish as the one unveiled by OnePlus last week, for over two weeks now. Here’s how the phone’s rear looks now.
And this is after I kept cleaning the rear of the device using a microfibre cloth every other day. That’s not something I am willing to do over a period of time. More importantly, perhaps, the phone looks like this after just two weeks of use. I can only imagine how it would look after a few months of real-world use.
I am not the only one facing this issue. Andrew Martonik from Android Central is in the same boat as me. And once the Sandstone White OnePlus 5T makes its way into the hands of consumers, I am sure they will realize the same thing. So, until and unless you plan to use a case with your Sandstone White thereby hiding its beautiful design, I will strongly recommend you to not buy it. Unless you don’t mind your phone looking all dirty after a few months of use.
The limited edition OnePlus 5T has gone on sale in the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe from today. It will come with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with a $559 price tag.Like this post? Share it!
