The Moto G series single-handedly brought back Motorola from the brink of extinction, and while the Moto G4 was a misstep, the company has learnt its lesson and is back with a bang with the Moto G5 series.

This time around, the company has ensured that there is a fair bit of difference between the two devices and will be pricing them in different categories to reach a wider range of consumers. A) No, unlike the Moto G5, the rear cover and battery of the Moto G5 Plus is not removable.

A) The Moto G5 Plus features a dual-SIM card slot and a microSD card slot. This means that you can use 2 SIM cards and a microSD card on the phone at the same time.

Q) Is the display on the Moto G5 Plus protected by Gorilla Glass?

A) The 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display on the Moto G5 Plus is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.

Q) Is the Moto G5 Plus worth buying over the Moto G5?

A) Yes, the G5 Plus is worth the extra money over the G5. The superb camera and better performance of the device make it worth the upgrade.

Q) How many fingerprints can one register on the Moto G5 Plus?

A) 5. The home button is capacitive in nature and can be used to wake up and unlock the device when its display is off.

Q) Can you lock apps using the fingerprint scanner on the Moto G5 Plus?

A) No, the Moto G5 Plus does not feature an IR blaster.

A) The Moto G5 Plus feature a nano coating that repels water, but it is not water-resistant or waterproof.

Q) How many different variants of the Moto G5 Plus does Moto sell in India?

A) The Moto G5 Plus is available in two different storage and RAM variants. The various configurations along with their price are as follows:

1) 3GB RAM + 16GB storage – Rs 14,999

2) 3GB RAM + 32GB storage – Rs 16,999

A) None. The two variants only differ from each other in terms of storage, RAM, and price.

Q) Does the Moto G5 Plus feature FM Radio?

A) Yes, it does.

Q) What are the key areas where the Moto G5 Plus has improved over the Moto G4 Plus?

A) The biggest improvement the Moto G5 Plus packs over its predecessor is its new all-metal design. While the handset does not look as beautiful as the Redmi Note 4, it now at least feels and looks premium. The use of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 625 chipset will also ensure that the Moto G5 Plus does not suffer from any overheating issues like the Moto G4 Plus.

The camera of the handset has also received a massive upgrade and now features a 12MP f/1.7 shooter with large 1.44u pixels and Dual Pixel for almost instant autofocus. The camera of the Moto G5 Plus significantly better than any other phone in the budget segment in India.

Q) What is the One Button Nav feature on the Moto G5 Plus?

A) The One Button Nav feature makes use of the fingerprint sensor as a virtual navigation bar and hides the on-screen button to free up real screen estate. Once enabled, you need to swipe left to go back while a right swipe will bring up the Recent Apps list.  As for the one-handed mode, it can be activated by swiping up on the home button. It shrinks the UI of the G5 Plus down to make it easily usable with one hand.

Q) Can you record slow-motion videos on the Moto G5 Plus?

A) Yes, it can but only at 720p @ 120fps. It can also record videos in 4K resolution at 30fps.

Q) Which version of Android does the Moto G5 Plus run on? 

A) The handset runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It also comes with Google Assistant.

Q) Does the Moto G5 Plus support LTE and VoLTe networks? Will a Reliance Jio SIM work on the phone?

A) Yes, it does support LTE and VoLTE out of the box. Unlike many other phones, the handset will also work with a Reliance Jio SIM out of the box.

A) Yes, the Moto G5 Plus supports USB On-The-Go. This allows you to directly connect pen drives, external hard disks and more using an adapter to the device.

    I want to buy a new mobile which One shall I buy, Moto G5plus or Redmi Note4.
    Only thing which is bothering me is the glass in redmi note 4. As I m not a very carefull person, so I hope i might drop it in future multiple time.
    Over all which one you think would be best if I just need a good camera, a good battery life, I’m ok with 32gb space, a good performer, and a mobile which can last long in terms of durability say like 2-3 years.
