Sony today kickstarted the first day of MWC by announcing four new phones: the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA 1, and Xperia XA 1 Ultra. First, let’s talk about the company’s flagship phone: the Xperia XZ Premium.

The Xperia XZ Premium is the successor to the XZ. It now comes with a larger 5.5-inch 4K display that supports HDR and features better dynamic range, contrast, and 40 percent higher brightness levels. The front and rear glass panels are Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, while the metal frame has been double-anodized for a more premium look and feel. The rear glass has a mirror-like finish, with the Deep Sea Black and Luminous Chrome color complementing that finish. The phone is also IP68 certified that makes it dust and water-resistant.

Inside the Xperia XZ Premium is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage space, and a microSD card slot. The 19MP camera sensor at the rear is a brand new one that features 5-axis stabilisation and “Motion Eye”. The latter the Xperia XZ Premium to record videos in up to 960fps in slow-motion at 720p resolution. There is a 13M f/2.0 sensor at the front for all your selfie needs as well.

Then, the company also announced a slightly less premium flagship: the Xperia XZs. The handset sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 chipset, and 4GB RAM. It will also come with a 19MP 1/2.3″ sensor with Motion Eye technology and f/2.0 aperture. This will be backed by a LaserAF sensor and an RGBC-IR sensor for improved color accuracy. A 13MP selfie shooter sits at the front of the device.

The handset will launch in April in Warm Silver, Ice Blue, and Black colors.
