Download: Android 4.4 KitKat launcher, Google Now and Play Services

In Android 4.4 KitKat, Google has introduced a new launcher that provides quick and easy access to Google now with just a simple left-to-right swipe. The launcher also includes unlimited number of home screens, new icons and bigger icons among a bunch of other visual changes.

The APK of the new launcher has already been extracted, and surprisingly, it works on all Jelly Bean devices. However, you will also need to install the latest version of Google Now and Play Services for the launcher to work properly.

The new launcher worked perfectly on my HTC One without any hiccups. To add new homescreens, users just need to drag content to the right mode side of the screen and new home screens would be added automatically. Swiping from left to right from the left-most homescreen will provide you with quick access to Google Now. There is absolutely no lag here or loading times, which is much better than the current implementation.

You need to change the default language of Google Now.

      • Emiel3673

        Change to which language?
I have the same problem, but my language is already set to English (US)

English HKSAR is also not working

I’m not sure if it works, but change it to another language, and then back to English (US). It worked for some people and for some people it didn’t.

Just changing the language helped me. Changed it to UK English.

“To add new homescreens, users just need to drag content to the right mode side of the screen and new home screens would be added automatically.”

Author mentions it at the end of the article. Kudos for finding it because I don’t see it mentioned anywhere else!

Is this possible to get working on an ICS device?

I don’t think so. You’ll have to root and install a custom KitKat ROM to get it.
